Tuensang, , Dec 12: In a significant step toward veteran welfare, the Assam Rifles conducted the Veer Nari Outreach Programme in Tuensang, Nagaland, on December 11, 2025, focusing on widows of ex-servicemen. The interactive initiative aimed to reinforce the force’s ongoing commitment to the families of those who served the nation.

During the programme, 19 participants received detailed guidance on documentation, pension entitlements, healthcare provisions, and other welfare schemes available to dependents of ex-servicemen. Assam Rifles officials also provided comprehensive information on government benefits, legal assistance, and educational opportunities for children and family members, ensuring participants were aware of all avenues of support.
The outreach session enabled officials to identify the specific needs of families, facilitating targeted follow-up and assistance in areas requiring additional attention. Families were encouraged to raise queries and seek clarification on procedures, ensuring smoother access to welfare mechanisms.
Speaking at the event, Assam Rifles representatives expressed deep appreciation for the resilience of the Veer Naris and assured them of continuous support through dedicated veteran welfare channels. The initiative highlighted the force’s enduring commitment to the welfare of ex-servicemen’s families and its broader role in community engagement, upholding its motto #FriendsOfTheHillPeople.
