Noklak, Aug 7: Assam Rifles organised an Ex-Servicemen Interaction and Medical Camp at its Tactical Headquarters in Noklak on August 6, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to the welfare of veterans and strengthening its longstanding ties with the ex-servicemen community.

The programme brought together 39 ex-servicemen, including veterans of Assam Rifles and the Indian Army, along with their dependents. The initiative provided a platform for veterans to interact directly with Assam Rifles officials and raise issues concerning their welfare and well-being.
A key feature of the programme was an interaction with the Commandant, during which veterans and their families discussed their concerns and welfare requirements. The interaction provided an opportunity for the force to better understand issues faced by former personnel and explore avenues for extending appropriate support.
The camp also focused on healthcare, with medical consultations and health check-ups organised for the participating veterans and their dependents. The medical component was aimed at encouraging preventive healthcare and ensuring that former servicemen have access to timely medical guidance.
As part of the welfare initiative, 20 chairs were also distributed to support veterans and facilitate community activities. The gesture was aimed at strengthening the facilities available to the ex-servicemen fraternity and encouraging greater interaction among veterans.
The programme underscored Assam Rifles' continuing efforts to remain connected with personnel who have served the force and the nation. Such initiatives provide veterans with avenues to communicate their concerns while reinforcing the institutional bond between serving personnel and the veteran community.
The interaction also highlighted the importance of extending welfare support beyond active service, particularly to veterans and their dependents living in remote areas.
