
Mizoram, Mar 16: In a concerted effort to support local communities, units of the Assam Rifles and the Territorial Army under SpearCorps recently carried out multiple welfare initiatives across Northeast India. The programmes focused on providing essential medical, educational, and sanitary support to underprivileged sections of society in Mizoram and Manipur.
At Thingsulthlia Village in Seling, Mizoram, personnel distributed essential medicines, sanitary items, and study materials to the NGO Nuna Lal Hnam. The initiative aimed to improve health awareness, hygiene practices, and access to educational resources for local children and families.
Simultaneously, in Thoubal district of Manipur, learning kits were handed over to underprivileged children at Umeed Academy in Wangjing. These kits included books, stationery, and other educational materials to assist students in their academic pursuits and encourage continued learning despite socio-economic challenges.
Officials from Assam Rifles and the Territorial Army emphasized that such community engagement programmes form a crucial part of their outreach mission, strengthening ties with local populations while addressing immediate needs in education, healthcare, and sanitation.
