Assam Rifles takes Tiranga campaign to Tuensang

August 09, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Tuensang, Aug 8: Assam Rifles conducted a Tiranga Campaign at Tuensang Garrison on August 7 as part of the commemoration of 150 years of Vande Mataram, promoting patriotism, national unity and civic responsibility among students and members of the local community.

As part of the initiative, National Flags were distributed among around 80 students of Government Higher Secondary School, Thangjam, as well as local residents. The programme aimed to familiarise the younger generation with the historical and cultural significance of the Tricolour and Vande Mataram.
During the event, participants were sensitised to the role of Vande Mataram and the National Flag as enduring symbols of India’s freedom struggle, unity, sacrifice and sovereignty. The interaction also highlighted the importance of upholding the values associated with the national symbols, including integrity, responsibility and respect for the nation.
The campaign provided an opportunity for students to engage with the significance of India's national heritage beyond the classroom. Through interaction and awareness activities, the initiative encouraged young participants to appreciate the sacrifices associated with the country’s freedom movement and understand their responsibility as citizens.
The distribution of National Flags also added a strong visual element to the campaign, encouraging participants to carry the message of unity and national pride into their homes and communities.
The initiative further strengthened the bond between Assam Rifles and the local community, particularly by engaging students and residents in a programme centred on shared national values. Such community outreach activities provide a platform for meaningful interaction between security forces and civilians while promoting awareness and civic participation.
The Tiranga Campaign at Tuensang was thus not only a celebration of the 150-year legacy of Vande Mataram, but also an effort to inspire the younger generation to uphold the principles of unity, integrity, sovereignty and national pride.
Through such initiatives, Assam Rifles continues to engage local communities and encourage young citizens to connect with India's rich national heritage while reinforcing the spirit of unity and collective responsibility.
