Khuga, Oct 17: The second batch of Food and Beverage Service training for local youth has commenced at the UNAU Skill Development Centre in Khuga, Manipur, under the aegis of Assam Rifles’ Spear Corps, in collaboration with Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), which operates Taj Hotels, and Tata STRIVE.
The initiative aims to equip local youth with industry-oriented skills and improve their employment prospects in the hospitality sector.
The structured programme includes 10 weeks of classroom learning, followed by four weeks of on-the-job training, providing participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to hospitality operations.
The training also offers a pathway to a one-year apprenticeship, helping participants gain further workplace experience and prepare for opportunities in the food and beverage service industry.
The collaboration brings together Assam Rifles’ outreach efforts and the hospitality expertise of IHCL and Tata STRIVE to promote skill development and livelihood opportunities among young people in the region.
By focusing on practical training and industry exposure, the programme seeks to bridge the gap between vocational education and employment requirements.
The initiative is also expected to contribute to sustainable livelihoods and socio-economic development in Manipur by enabling youth to acquire market-relevant skills and pursue careers in the hospitality sector.
The launch of the second batch reflects continued efforts to expand skill-building opportunities for local youth and support their participation in the workforce.
