Imphal, May 17: In a major initiative aimed at promoting discipline, leadership, and national service among the youth, the Assam Rifles under Spear Corps conducted a comprehensive weapon training and firing cadre for 245 cadets of the Manipur Air NCC Squadron in Imphal West, Manipur.
The training programme was organised to provide cadets with practical exposure to weapon handling, firing techniques, safety procedures, and the fundamentals of military discipline. The initiative forms part of the Assam Rifles’ continued efforts to motivate young people towards constructive engagement, patriotism, and service to the nation.
During the cadre, experienced Army and Assam Rifles instructors trained the cadets in various aspects of weapon familiarisation, including safe handling practices, aiming techniques, firing posture, and range discipline. The cadets also received guidance on leadership qualities, teamwork, mental resilience, and the importance of discipline in both military and civilian life.
Officials said the programme was designed not only to enhance the cadets’ confidence and practical skills but also to inspire them to consider careers in the armed forces and contribute positively to society.
The cadets actively participated in the training sessions and expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to learn from defence personnel. Many described the experience as motivating and informative, helping them better understand the responsibilities and values associated with military service.
Senior officials from Assam Rifles highlighted the crucial role of NCC activities in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders. They stated that such initiatives help channel the energy of the youth in a positive direction while strengthening national integration and civic responsibility.
The event also reinforced the longstanding relationship between the armed forces and youth organisations in the Northeast, particularly in encouraging discipline, confidence, and a spirit of service among young cadets in Manipur.
