Rohtak , April 2: As part of its ongoing outreach initiative, Assam Rifles visited the residence of Sub/ORL Sube Singh (Retd), an 86-year-old veteran and former personnel of 8 Assam Rifles, at Village Madana Kalan in Rohtak district.
The veteran, who suffered a stroke in 2001, is partially paralysed and currently under the care of his daughter. During the visit on April 28, 2026, the Assam Rifles team interacted closely with the veteran and his family, enquired about his health condition, and assessed his current needs and well-being.
Officials also sensitised the family regarding the benefits available under the Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS), guiding them on how to access medical and welfare support facilities for veterans.
The outreach team assured continued assistance and reiterated Assam Rifles’ commitment to the welfare of its former personnel and their families, particularly those facing health or financial challenges.
The visit was warmly received by the family, who expressed gratitude to Lt Gen Vikas Lekhera, AVSM, SM, Director General Assam Rifles, and the team for their support and for remembering the service and sacrifice of the veteran.
Officials said such initiatives are part of a broader effort by Assam Rifles to maintain strong bonds with its retired personnel and ensure they receive timely assistance and care.
