Dimapur, June 21: Assam Rifles commemorated the 12th International Day of Yoga on 21 June 2026 with mass yoga sessions at Mon, Shamator and Noklak under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” reaffirming its focus on holistic health, discipline and operational readiness.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers, Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and troops, who performed a series of yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation exercises under the guidance of trained instructors. The sessions were designed in line with the Common Yoga Protocol and focused on building physical endurance, mental clarity and emotional balance.
Participants were sensitised on the importance of yoga in enhancing overall fitness, reducing stress and improving concentration levels—factors considered vital for maintaining high standards of operational preparedness in challenging terrains and demanding field conditions.
The observance also highlighted yoga as a preventive health practice that contributes to long-term well-being, helping personnel maintain resilience and adaptability in both professional and personal life.
Commanders and instructors emphasized that regular practice of yoga supports better decision-making, improved stamina and greater emotional stability, which are essential attributes for forces operating in remote and high-altitude regions.
The initiative concluded with a collective reaffirmation of adopting yoga as a way of life, reflecting Assam Rifles’ continued commitment to the health, morale and overall preparedness of its personnel while promoting a culture of wellness across its formations.
