Awantipora, Nov 1: Continuing its sustained drive against drug Peddlers, J&K Police in Awantipora apprehended one drug peddler in Reshipora and recovered contraband substances from his possession.

A police party from Police Post Reshipora, headed by the In-Charge Police Post Reshipora, apprehended one person at Ghat Tokina, namely Imtiyaz Ahmad Naikoo son of Gh. Mohd Naikoo resident of Reshi Mohalla, near Masjid, Tral Payeen, along with a black-coloured pithu bag. During the search of the bag, police recovered 1.20 kg of semi-dried cannabis-like substance, 109.97 grams of dark-brown compressed cannabis-like substance wrapped in maize husk, and 4.96 grams of dark-brown round shaped compressed cannabis-like substance. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 257/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Awantipora, and further investigation has been taken up.
