Awareness drives on child labour held in Nagaland and Manipur

June 14, 2026 | BK News Service

Dimapur, June 13: On the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour, awareness programmes were organised at Wangti in Nagaland and Waikhong in Manipur to highlight the importance of protecting children’s rights and eradicating child exploitation.

The initiatives focused on sensitising students, parents, and local residents about the harmful impact of child labour and the crucial role of education in shaping a better future. Participants were informed about legal protections available for children and the need for collective responsibility in ensuring that every child is enrolled in school and free from exploitation.
Speakers and organisers emphasized that child labour not only deprives children of their childhood but also affects their physical, emotional, and intellectual development. They urged communities to remain vigilant and report any instances of child exploitation to the concerned authorities.
The programmes also reinforced the message that education is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and building a stronger society. Locals appreciated the initiative and expressed commitment to supporting efforts aimed at eliminating child labour from their regions.
