It is springtime in the Kashmir Valley and these days lovers of nature are making a beeline for Old Srinagar’s historic Badamwari (Almond) Park, also known as the Warris Shah Park.
Running riot with well-tended trees of colourful almond flowers, all due to the untiring efforts of gardening staff employed with the Department of Floriculture of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, the 280-Kanal park, which is located below the Hari Parbat Fort built on the Koh-e-Maran, has about 1000 almond flower growing trees, besides other types of flowers.
Brighter Kashmir caught up with a couple of tourists from the southern city of Hyderabad to get their reactions.
Akshay from Hyderabad said: “I am on a holiday in Kashmir with my family. I arrived here three days ago and our first visit to this Almond flower garden has been a beautiful and memorable experience. It is really very nice to see so many flowers and trees and plants in a blooming stage.”
He further went on to say, “This is such a beautiful place that when I go back I will tell everyone to visit Kashmir and see the natural beauty of the place; and urge them to take good photographs.”
