Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Tuesday inaugurated the District Wushu Championship 2025 at Universal Education Trust School, Plan Bandipora.
The event, organized under the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), aims to promote physical fitness, youth empowerment, and a drug-free lifestyle.
The championship witnessed the participation of nearly 300 young athletes, including boys and girls from schools and clubs across the district, competing in various age categories.
Speaking on the occasion, DC underscored the transformative power of sports in shaping the character of young individuals. He noted that sports help instill discipline, focus, and teamwork.
He further stated that the district administration remains fully committed to initiatives that positively channel the energy of the youth and keep them away from drug abuse.
Padma Shri awardee and Brand Ambassador of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, Faisal Ali Dar, also graced the event. He lauded the initiative and encouraged the young participants to pursue sports as a path toward a healthier and more meaningful life.
Among others, the event was attended by renowned sports personalities from the district, enthusiastic youth, and sports lovers.
