India has entered a defining new era in space exploration with the successful launch of Vikram-1, the country's first privately developed orbital-class rocket. More than a technological breakthrough, the mission marks the rise of a self-reliant, innovation-driven India where private enterprise is beginning to play a central role in shaping the nation's scientific future. Launched under Mission Agaman from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Vikram-1 signals that India's space ambitions have expanded far beyond government-led missions.

Named after Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, the visionary founder of India's space programme, the rocket is a tribute to his belief that space technology should serve national development.
