
Srinagar, June 7: The National Gateball Championship concluded successfully at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Zadibal, Srinagar, with Bihar emerging as the champions after defeating Haryana in a thrilling final match.
The championship witnessed the participation of 32 athletes representing 16 States and Union Territories from across the country, including Jammu & Kashmir. The event provided a vibrant platform for athletes to showcase their skills and promote the growing sport of Gateball at the national level.
MLA Zadibal Constituency, Tanvir Sadiq, attended the valedictory function as the Chief Guest. Among the distinguished guests present on the occasion were Mohammad Shafi Lone (Principal, GHSS Zadibal), Manzoor Ahmad (PEM, GHSS Zadibal), Sharad Kumar Patra (Treasurer, Indian Gateball Union), Dilip Kumar Sarangi (Official, Indian Gateball Union), Rouf Ahmad Khan (Physical Educator), and Dr. Altaf-ur-Rehman (Former Director Sports, Islamia College Srinagar), who attended as Guests of Honour.
During the closing ceremony, the Chief Guest felicitated officials and representatives of participating states with mementoes in recognition of their contribution to the promotion of Gateball. He also interacted with the players and witnessed the matches being played on the field.
Speaking on the occasion, the dignitaries appreciated the efforts of the organisers for successfully conducting the national-level championship and providing excellent facilities to the participating teams.
The Secretary of the J&K Gateball Union presented the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all players, technical officials, volunteers, supporters, and the Indian Gateball Union (IGU) for their wholehearted cooperation and support in making the championship a grand success.
The championship was organised by the J&K Gateball Union and hosted at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Zadibal, Srinagar. The event was supported by GHSS Zadibal, NIITIANS' Career Institute, JK Green Energy Solutions, and The Legends School.
