Patna, Sep 15: Bihar Governor Lieutenant General Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd.) on Tuesday honoured Indian Army personnel from Bihar who have received gallantry awards from the President for their bravery and courage.
At an ‘Honour Ceremony’ held at Bihar Lok Bhavan, Patna, the Governor also felicitated police officers and personnel from the state who were awarded the President’s Police Medal for distinguished and meritorious service.
Addressing the gathering, Lt Gen Hasnain said the nation remains grateful to the armed forces and police personnel for their courage, dedication and service to national security. He said such honours recognise exceptional acts of service while also making the recipients role models for society, particularly the youth.
The Governor stressed that serving in the Army or police is not merely a profession but a round-the-clock commitment to the nation. He urged the awardees to continue upholding the highest standards of discipline, conduct and public service.
He also acknowledged the sacrifices made by the families of military and police personnel, particularly those whose loved ones serve in challenging and remote areas. He said their support and contribution should be recognised alongside the achievements of the awardees.
Lt Gen Hasnain said Bihar has a long tradition of producing courageous soldiers and dedicated police personnel who have brought pride to both the state and the nation.
Former Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Ram Chander Tiwari (Retd.), former Deputy Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti (Retd.) and Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar also addressed the ceremony.
Senior officials, armed forces and police personnel, NCC cadets and officers and staff of the Governor’s Secretariat attended the event.
