Baramulla, May 9: MLA Baramulla, Javid Hassan Beig today visited Baramulla town market and Kanispora to assess the condition of roads and drainage. During his visit, he interacted with locals and assured them that the long-neglected National Highway stretch from Kanispora to Khanpora in Baramulla will finally undergo macadamization work starting this Sunday.
Speaking to the Brighter Kashmir Baig said the poor condition of the road has been a major source of inconvenience for commuters, traders, and students. He confirmed that BEACON authorities have been directed to begin the work without delay. “The Kanispora–Khanpora National Highway has remained in a pathetic condition for years. I have personally taken up the matter with BEACON authorities, and the macadamization work will begin from Sunday,” he said.
The MLA also highlighted another serious issue—the encroachment of flood nalas and channels in Baramulla town. He noted that these encroachments have led to waterlogging on roads during rains, particularly in the busy market area, causing distress to shopkeepers and residents. “I have taken this issue with the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, and very soon the encroachments will be removed. The nalas and flood channels will be opened and made functional, giving much-needed relief to the people of Baramulla,” Beig assured.
He reiterated that public convenience, better road infrastructure, and proper drainage management remain his top priorities. Beigh appealed to the people for cooperation during the execution of works and reaffirmed his commitment to resolving the problems faced by residents.
