Baramulla, May 6: A 13-year-old boy from Sein Hachaypora Rafiabad in Baramulla district has taken the internet by storm with his soulful singing. Rasik Ahmad Meer’s video of the song Jiye Sajna from the movie Dhurandhar, uploaded on Instra on April 26, 2026, has crossed an astonishing 45 million views, making him one of the most talked-about young talents in the Valley.
Rasik told Brighter Kashmir that he had never used social media before. His first attempt at uploading a song did not receive much attention. But when he posted “Jiye Sajna”, the response was overwhelming. “Within twelve hours, 85,000 people started following me. The love people showed towards my singing has reached nearly 50 million viewers,” he said. He expressed gratitude when singer Jasmine Sandals commented on his video and television actor Ali Goni shared it on his own account.
The young singer admitted that his father was not supportive of his passion in the beginning, but later encouraged him to continue. Rasik now dreams of professional training, saying there is no proper music infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir. “I want to participate in Indian Idol and show my talent on a bigger stage,” he said.
His determination is evident in the fact that he crafted a violin himself from local wood, a symbol of his commitment to music despite limited resources. Rasik’s journey from a small village in Rafiabad to national recognition highlights the power of talent and perseverance. His story has inspired many youngsters in the region, proving that dreams can indeed find wings when nurtured with dedication.
