Ganderbal, July 12: An unidentified body was recovered from the Sindh Nallah in the Shatkadi area of Sonamarg on Sunday.

The body was noticed by local residents floating in the stream, following which the matter was immediately brought to the notice of the police.
A police team from Sonamarg, accompanied by the Zonal Officer for Amarnath Yatra duty, Mir Afaq Ahmad, rushed to the spot and with the assistance of local residents retrieved the body from the nallah.
The body was later shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Sonamarg, where legal and medico-legal formalities were initiated.
Police have registered a case and commenced investigation.
Efforts are also underway to establish the identity of the deceased.
