Muzaffarpur: The convocation of B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University, a momentous occasion not observed in six years, was held with great pomp and circumstance . The event was a testimony to the university's renewed commitment to scholastic distinction and institutional rectitude. The grand ceremony was presided over by the esteemed Governor of Bihar, Shri Arif Mohammad Khan, while the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, graced the occasion as the chief guest. The meticulously orchestrated event saw 53 postgraduate and PhD students conferred with degrees and medals in recognition of their academic brilliance.
In his welcoming address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dinesh Chandra Rai expressed his profound gratitude for the presence of the two Governors, deeming it a "great moment for the university" and a fount of inspiration. He expounded upon the tremendous strides made by BRABU over the past year in the realms of academics, research, infrastructure, and student welfare. He specifically highlighted the successful implementation of the Research Policy 2024, which has yielded a palpable increase in research output and facilitated the commendation of top scholars.
Prof. Rai also ratified the university's renewed focus on promoting innovation and startups, recognizing their key role in nurturing a new generation of nation-builders. He proudly announced that the university's official anthem, the "Kulgeet," was adopted this year, marking a significant milestone in solidifying the university's identity. He also pointed to a historic first: the formal registration of the university's Alumni Association last year, a monumental achievement after seven decades of the institution's existence. He expressed his hope that the august presence of the Governors would invigorate the entire university community, spurring them to greater efforts in achieving their academic goals.
Chief guest Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha, extended his felicitations to the graduates and spoke of the imperative for lifelong learning in the pursuit of a "Viksit Bharat" (Developed India). He noted the increasing number of female gold medalists and merit certificate recipients in recent convocations, highlighting the rising role of women in academics.
Paying homage to the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, LG Sinha stated that the decisive actions of security forces through 'Operation Sindoor' and 'Operation Mahadev' had delivered a measure of justice. He emphasized that the subsequent protests by Kashmiris against Pakistan and terrorism were a clear indication of a paradigm shift in the region, wherein the populace has unequivocally rejected violence in favor of peace. He proudly stated that in Kashmir, "the youth are now picking up pens instead of stones," and actively engaging in startups, a clear sign of their embrace of a brighter future. He also highlighted the government's unwavering resolve to dismantle the terror ecosystem, noting that "terror sympathizers in the government are being weeded out one by one."
LG Sinha also spoke about the Indian economy's remarkable growth over the past 11 years, stating that it has progressed across all global rankings to become one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. He added that J&K is blossoming into an education hub, a fact substantiated by the rare achievement of two of its universities, securing the prestigious A grade.
In his presidential address, Governor of Bihar, Shri Arif Mohammad Khan, elucidated the profound significance of India's rich cultural heritage. He congratulated the graduates, their parents, and their teachers, stating that it is a day to celebrate their hard work. He said that a student's success is a source of pride for both parents and teachers, and that they will be a source of inspiration for many to follow. Governor posited that the nation's ancient ethos offers a repository of wisdom for navigating contemporary challenges. Citing Swami Vivekananda, he proclaimed that true education is not merely the accumulation of facts but the cultivation of character and the manifestation of the perfection inherent within every individual. He stressed that India's heritage is not defined by discord but by the unison of diverse ideas and beliefs.
The convocation commenced with a symbolic tree-planting ceremony by both governors on campus, christened “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” a fitting tribute to the university's commitment to both cultural preservation and environmental stewardship.
Among the notable attendees at the event were, Madam VC Smt. Bibha Rai, Proctor Prof. B.S. Rai, Registrar Prof. Samir Kumar Sharma, LS College Principal Prof. Kanupriya, Prof. Ram Kumar, Prof. T.K.
