Praising Brighter Kashmir for giving proper coverage to cancer-related issues, famed Bollywood actor Mahima Chaudhry, who has recovered from breast cancer, affirmed that people should not get frightened because it’s all about having a strong conviction to recuperate.
“The headline about recovery from breast cancer is so perfect. It’s a strong message for people not to get frightened because it’s all about the head and the battle,” Mahima told Brighter Kashmir in an interview.
She asserted that she is trying to get her strength back and would be in touch for more on how to survive deadly cancer. Mahima is known for her performance in the 1997 hit movie Pardes, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan.
In an Instagram post recently, actor Anupam Kher, who is working with her on a project, shared an update about Mahima's health with a caption that read: "Story of Mahima Chaudhry's courage and cancer. I called Mahima Chaudhry a month back from the US to play a very important role in my 525th film The Signature. Our conversation turned to her discovering that she has breast cancer. What followed is in this candid conversation between us. Her attitude will give hope to so many women all over the world. She wanted me to be part of her disclosing it. She calls me an eternal optimist but dearest Mahima.”
Anupam added in his post: "You are my hero! Friends, send her your love, warmth, wishes, prayers, and blessings. She is back on sets where she belongs. She is ready to fly. All those producers/directors out there! Here is your opportunity to tap on her brilliance! Jai ho to her.”
In the video, she was seen talking to Anupam about how he approached her for the role in his upcoming film, The Signature, “Surprisingly, ever since I lost my hair, I was getting a lot of calls for web series and this and that. And I was like, ‘Oh my god, why I am getting calls now when I don’t even have hair’, so I didn’t tell them. And I couldn’t tell you that I can’t do your film. You started rattling about the role and I told you I need to talk to you in the night.”
"Cancer is very much treatable. It scares the sh** out of people but a lot of advances have been made in this field," Mahima believes. Mahima says that her cancer is now out and gone. "I am cancer-free. It got all over about 3 to 4 months back.”
Her daughter Aryana did not go to school while Mahima was recuperating. "She categorically told me that she'll stay at home because she didn't want to risk the COVID virus from coming home as I was in my recovery stage. So, she didn't go to school when it reopened after the COVID phase. She took her classes online, they gave her that provision.”
Described as a beautiful story of a common man, The Signature is directed by Gajendra Ahire. It is produced by noted producer K C Bokadia. 'The Signature', tells us that first and foremost she needs to make it clear that she did not take any treatment for her breast cancer in the US.
"People didn't see the video fully, they have just jumped to conclude that I went to America for my treatment. But the fact is that I was very much in Mumbai.”
She has featured in films like Daag: The Fire, Pyaar Koi Khel Nahin, Deewane, Kurukshetra, Dhadkan, Lajja, Baghban, Zameer: The Fire Within, Om Jai Jagadish and Dil Hai Tumhaara. She was last seen in the 2016 film Dark Chocolate.
