Budgam, June 8: Where on one hand, the youth in the Kashmir Valley are seen playing sports activities with enthusiasm in the fields at the local level, the same Youth Services and Sports Budgam is also seen busy organizing various sports competitions. Under this link, the department started Inter-Zonal District Level Athletics Competitions at the Sports Stadium Budgam under the supervision of District Development Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan and Director General Sports Anuradha Gupta, and the Girls category events were inaugurated by District Youth Sports Officer Jai Pal Singh in the presence of senior officials of the department. In his speech on the occasion, he addressed the children and said that they should participate in the playgrounds with discipline and dedication and emphasize the importance of sports by forming the role of healthy and responsible citizens and also appealed to stay away from drugs.

It is to be noted that girls from 12 zones of the district are participating in these competitions and the girls participated vigorously in various events including 100 meters, 200 meters, Jewelion throw and short put events. Competitions from inter-school level to inter-zonal level are going on in the district these days.
