BUPL-2 2025–26 kicks off in Nowshera

The Brig Usman Premier League (BUPL)-2 began its 2025–26 season today with a grand opening ceremony held at Nowshera. The event was inaugurated by Brigadier Shubhankar Ghoshal, SM, Commander 80 Infantry Brigade, who attended as the Chief Guest. MLA Ravinder Raina, ASP Nowshera Baljeet Singh, SDPO Nowshera DySP Sahil Mahajan (JKPS), SHO Police Station Nowshera Inspector Arjun Mangotra, Mr. Sudesh Sharma, Principal of Third Millennium Public School, along with other military, civil dignitaries and media personnel were also present on this special occasion.

The ceremony opened with an inspiring cultural performance by the students of Third Millennium Public School, showcasing community spirit and youthful enthusiasm. The Chief Guest unveiled the championship trophy amidst loud cheers, interacted with all participating teams, and encouraged them to compete with discipline and true sportsmanship. He later performed the official toss to formally declare the tournament open Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Shubhankar Ghoshal, SM praised the energy of the youth and highlighted the importance of sports in uniting communities, building character, and spreading peace in the region, especially in border areas. He reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment not only to national security but also to empowering youth through positive initiatives like BUPL Former MLA Ravinder Raina appreciated the Indian Army for its selfless dedication and emphasized that the Army remains the strongest pillar of India’s security. He motivated the youth to adopt nationalism, discipline, and patriotism, encouraging them to contribute actively to nation-building The opening day featured two exciting cricket matches. In the first match between FCC Bajabain and Sikh Cricket Club, FCC Bajabain won the toss and chose to bowl. Sikh Cricket Club posted 118/4 in 15 overs. In response, FCC Bajabain successfully chased the target, scoring 122/4 in just 12.3 overs to win by six wickets. Ranjeet Singh, who played a brilliant unbeaten knock of 91 runs, was declared Man of the Match The second match was contested between Rajput Cricket Club and Lam Cricket Club. Rajput Cricket Club batted first after winning the toss and scored 104/8 in 15 overs. Lam Cricket Club chased the target efficiently, reaching 105/7 in 14.3 overs to claim a three-wicket victory. Irfan Khan was selected as the Man of the Match for his all-round performance The Brig Usman Premier League continues to promote peace, sportsmanship, and communal harmony among the youth of Rajouri district. With 16 teams from villages and LoC-bordering areas participating, the league provides a strong platform for local talent to shine.
