
Srinagar International Airport is set for a major transformation, with the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approving a ₹1,677 crore Civil Enclave project. Spread over 73.18 acres, the new terminal will cover 71,500 sq. m, integrating modern design with Kashmiri cultural motifs. It will serve 2,900 passengers during peak hours and 10 million annually. The expansion includes 15 aircraft parking bays, multi-level car parking, and barracks for security personnel. Sustainability features, including water harvesting and eco-friendly materials, aim for a 5-star GRIHA rating. Officials project the project will boost tourism, generate employment, and enhance Srinagar’s connectivity.
LG Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to PM Narendra Modi, stating that the airport’s upgrade will strengthen the Valley’s economic and tourism prospects.
