Srinagar, Nov 7: Learning Links Foundation, under its Road to School Programme, organised a community-level cancer awareness programme in collaboration with Project Batwara ICDS on the occasion of National Cancer Awareness Day.
The programme, supported as a CSR initiative by Ashok Leyland Foundation, aimed to educate community members about cancer prevention, early detection and the importance of timely medical intervention.
The session was conducted by Education Support Developers (ESDs) Ms Rukhsanda and Ms Mehren, in the presence of ICDS Supervisor Ms Waheeda, ICDS workers and helpers, ASHA workers and representatives of the Department of Social Welfare.
Dr Manzoor from Gousia Hospital also participated and shared guidance on cancer awareness, highlighting common risk factors, warning signs, preventive measures and the need for early diagnosis.
Participants were sensitised about the importance of recognising possible symptoms, undergoing timely screening and consulting medical professionals without delay. The information was communicated in simple and accessible language to enable frontline workers to spread awareness among families and communities.
The programme also emphasised the role of community-level initiatives in strengthening preventive healthcare, particularly through the involvement of ICDS and ASHA workers, who remain closely connected with local households.
