Srinagar, Oct 16: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Ward Officer of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Safakadal, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹10,000.
According to the CBI, a case was registered on October 15, 2026, following a complaint alleging that the officer had demanded the bribe to allow minor renovation work at the complainant’s residence to continue.
The CBI said it laid a trap on October 15 and caught the accused officer red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the ₹10,000 bribe. The officer was subsequently arrested.
Further investigation into the case is underway, the CBI said.
