A young CBI prosecutor, who was critically injured in a road accident near Banihal on Thursday, succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

Adil was posted in Delhi as a Public Prosecutor with the CBI.
The accident occurred on Thursday at around 3 pm when an Alto car (JK10), driven by Advocate Sheikh Adil Nabi, son of Ghulam Nabi Sheikh, a resident of Bijbehara in Anantnag district, was travelling from Banihal towards Kashmir.
Sheikh Adil, aged around 35 years, had recently cleared the UPSC examination and joined as a Public Prosecutor with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Chandigarh.
When the vehicle reached near the railway crossing at Banihal, it was hit by a speedy Scorpio bearing registration number JK01BB-2625.
Adil sustained critical injuries in the collision and was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, where he was administered first aid. He was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag and subsequently shifted to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.
However, he succumbed to his injuries this morning.
In a video of the incident, which has gone viral on social media platforms, a speeding vehicle can be seen hitting Nabi’s vehicle. As per the video, when Adil's vehicle reached near the railway crossing at Banihal, it was hit by a speeding SUV.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and said all necessary procedures are being followed.
Meanwhile, members of the legal fraternity expressed shock and grief over Advocate Nabi’s untimely death, terming it a major loss to the legal community.
Colleagues remembered him as a committed professional known for his diligence and legal acumen.
