
New Delhi, Oct 11: A meeting with the prominent Sikh achievers and individuals of eminence was held on 9th October, 2024 in the National Commission for Minorities under the Chairmanship of Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Chairman. Also present were Shri K.K. Deboo, Vice Chairman, National Commission for Minorities, Dhanya Kumar J. Gunde and Ms. Rinchen Lhamo, members of the Commission. The Sikh delegates included General Joginder Jaswant Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC (Retd.) former COAS, S. Tikka Shatrujit Singh Ahluwalia, Sardar Ajitpal Singh, Olympian, Brig. P S Gothra, Col Jaibans Singh, S S Kohli, CMD, Punjab and Sind Bank, Dr. Gurmeet Singh, Former Vice-Chancellor, Pondicherry University, Dr Jaswinder Singh Dhillon, Former Vice-Chancellor, GKU, Bathinda, Dr. Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor, Tejinder Pal Singh Nalwa, Immigration Attorney, Dr. Simrat Kaur Kahlon, Amena Anantishi Bal, Co-Founder, Gen Bharat, Dr. Avneet Kaur, Ramneek Singh Mann, Baba Naunihal Singh, Baba Gurpreet Singh, Adv. The participants shared their views relating to the issues of Sikh community viz. educational and socio-economic upliftment, promotion of Punjabi language (Gurumukhi), tackling of drug menace among Sikh youth, misuse of social media, skill development, opening of industries in Sikh dominated areas, cultural invasion, propagation of Expressing the support of the Commission for the Sikh community to work towards addressing their concerns, fostering unity, and promoting a positive narrative for future generations, Hon’ble Chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura assured that the Commission would endeavour to take up their issues at appropriate level as and when required.
