The failure of the underground drainage system in Charar-e-Sharief has caused immense difficulties for both residents and visitors. People are facing serious challenges in their daily movement.
According to reporter senior leader of the Awami Ittehad Party, Advocate Javed Hubi, expressed grave concern over this critical situation. He stated that the failure of such basic facilities in a religious and cultural hub like Charar-e-Sharief is unacceptable. He appealed to the government and administration for immediate intervention and stressed that practical steps on the ground have become absolutely essential.
Advocate Hubi further stated that lakhs of rupees were spent on constructing the underground drainage system, but unfortunately, even after six years, the system has not become operational. As a result, roads are collapsing, water is accumulating, and the public is suffering tremendously.
He emphasized that Charar-e-Sharief is not only important for the local population but also a major pilgrimage site visited by people from distant areas. However, the poor infrastructure has tarnished the sanctity of this sacred place. Advocate Hubi added that if urgent measures are not taken, the issue could escalate into a major crisis in the coming days.
He appealed to the government and District Magistrate of Budgam to mobilize the concerned departments and prioritize the restoration of the underground drainage system and internal lanes in Charar-e-Sharief so that the hardships faced by residents and pilgrims can be addressed without further delay.
