
Lays foundation stones in Anantnag, Kulgam
Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary said the Omar Abdullah-led government has completed one year in office and remains committed to fulfilling the aspirations of Jammu and Kashmir’s people. He made these remarks during his tour of Anantnag and Kulgam districts, where he laid foundation stones for developmental projects worth nearly Rs. 9 crore.
In Anantnag, the Deputy CM inaugurated the Rs. 3.16 crore Labour Sarai Project at Wanpoh, aimed at boosting economic activity, generating employment, and providing a one-stop centre for workers. He emphasized timely execution, directing the PWD department to ensure project completion by June next year.
He also released over Rs. 30 lakh to 1,025 registered workers under the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board schemes, covering Meritorious Scholarship, Higher Education Assistance, and Lower Education Assistance programs.
In Kulgam, the Deputy CM laid the foundation stone for the Rs. 5.69 crore Khrewan–Palpora Check Road project in Devsar, expected to benefit around 20 villages by improving connectivity. He also conducted Bhumi Pujan at Ganesh Mandir Vessu and reviewed ongoing Transit Accommodation Blocks for Kashmiri Pandits, urging officials to expedite work for early handover.
Addressing public gatherings, he reaffirmed the government’s commitment to equitable development, dignified rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits, and promotion of the region’s composite culture, emphasizing peace and harmony across communities.
