The Chief Minister’s Office on Saturday responded to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq’s criticism regarding an alleged "obscene fashion show" in Gulmarg, saying shock and anger is understandable while assuring swift action based on an official report.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the CM’s Office stated, "The shock & anger are totally understandable. The images I have seen show a complete disregard for local sensitivities & that too during this holy month. My office has been in touch with the local authorities & I’ve asked for a report to be submitted within the next 24 hours. Further action, as appropriate, will follow from this report."
Earlier, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had posted on X, calling the event "outrageous" and questioning how such an act could be tolerated in Kashmir’s Sufi and saint culture. "Such obscenity in the name of tourism promotion will not be tolerated," he wrote, demanding immediate action against those responsible.
The viral images and videos from the event have sparked widespread public outrage, with many questioning the rationale behind such an event during the holy month of Ramadan.
