COAS reviews Eastern Command's forward preparedness

Kolkata, July 17: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth reviewed the operational preparedness and overall security situation in the Eastern Command during a three-day visit from July 14 to 16, reaffirming the Indian Army's focus on combat readiness, modernisation and development initiatives across the Northeast.

During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed on operational deployment along forward areas, infrastructure development, indigenous modernisation programmes and technology-driven capability enhancement aimed at strengthening the Army's operational effectiveness.
General Seth also reviewed measures being undertaken to improve combat preparedness and assessed ongoing community outreach initiatives designed to promote peace, stability and socio-economic development in the Northeast.
The COAS interacted with personnel of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), appreciating their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation's frontiers.
He lauded the security forces for their exemplary role in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations, as well as their continued contribution to nation-building through civic action programmes and community engagement initiatives.
Emphasising the importance of operational excellence, technological advancement and indigenous capability development, General Seth encouraged troops to maintain the highest standards of preparedness while strengthening cooperation with local communities.
The visit underscored the Indian Army's commitment to enhancing security, improving infrastructure in strategically important areas and fostering peace and development across the Northeast through close coordination among the Army, Assam Rifles and other security agencies.
