Imphal, July 28: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Dhiraj Seth, on Monday reviewed the prevailing security situation in Manipur during his ongoing visit to the Spear Corps, reaffirming the Indian Army's commitment to maintaining peace, stability and operational preparedness in the region.

During the visit, General Seth received a comprehensive briefing from senior military commanders on the current security environment, ongoing operational deployments and measures being undertaken to address evolving security challenges in the state.
The Army Chief was also briefed on the operational preparedness of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), and the Red Shield Division. The presentations focused on counter-insurgency operations, border management, force readiness and coordination among various security agencies to ensure stability across the region.
Reviewing the Army's wider role beyond security operations, General Seth assessed the extensive nation-building initiatives being undertaken by the Army formations and the Assam Rifles. These initiatives include community outreach programmes, infrastructure development, educational support, healthcare assistance and other civic action projects aimed at promoting peace, trust and sustainable development in Manipur and other parts of the Northeast.
The Army Chief appreciated the efforts of the formations in strengthening engagement with local communities while maintaining a high level of operational effectiveness.
General Seth also interacted with troops deployed in the region and commended them for their professionalism, dedication and unwavering commitment under challenging operational conditions. He urged all ranks to remain vigilant, operationally agile and future-ready to effectively tackle emerging security threats.
He emphasised the importance of maintaining the highest standards of readiness while continuing to contribute towards lasting peace, security and development in the region.
The visit underscores the Indian Army's continued focus on enhancing operational capability, strengthening civil-military cooperation and supporting initiatives that foster long-term stability and progress across Manipur and the Northeast.
