Cold condition intensifies in Kashmir

The cold conditions intensified in Kashmir as the night temperature plummeted all across the valley on Monday.
A MeT official said the night temperature in Srinagar dropped to -5.1°C as against -3.0°C during the previous night. It was 3.1°C below the seasonal average for this time of year.
He said Pahalgam in south Kashmir remained the coldest place in the valley with minimum temperature dropping to -8.4°C.
The ski resort of Gulmarg also witnessed a significant fall in the night temperature and it settled at -6.5°C.
The picturesque Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district plunged to a low of -9.8°C as against -6.5°C recorded on Sunday.
Kupwara recorded a low of -5.5°C as against -4.0°C recorded during the previous night.
In Kokernag the night temperature settled at -3.4°C while in Qazigund the minimum temperature dipped to a low of -6.4°C
The MeT has predicted dry weather till January 21 with a chance of light snow over the isolated higher reaches in between January 15, 16 and 21.
