‘CPWs regularised in J&K Education Dept’

Jammu, June 19: Education Minister Sakeena Itoo on Thursday distributed regularisation orders among 261 Contingency Paid Workers (CPWs) of the School Education Department and laid the foundation stone of multiple educational infrastructure projects across Jammu division at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.

Senior officials including Project Director Samagra Shiksha Bhawani Rakhwal, Director School Education Jammu Dr. Naseem Javid Choudhary, Joint Director SCERT, CEOs, principals, and other education department officers attended the event.
The Minister said the government is committed to strengthening the education sector, improving school infrastructure, and ensuring welfare of employees. She described education as the key driver of social and economic development and said multiple reforms are underway to transform the sector in Jammu & Kashmir.
Congratulating the regularised CPWs, she said their long-pending demand has been fulfilled under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, ensuring them social security and dignity after years of service.
She also directed strict action against teacher attachments from far-flung areas to urban centres, stressing that shortages in rural schools are affecting students’ education. She called for repatriation of such teachers to their original postings.
The Minister further said a transparent transfer policy for the School Education Department is being framed on the lines of the Higher Education Department.
On the occasion, she virtually laid foundation stones for several projects including an elementary hostel at Government Middle School Hiranagar, upgradation of Government Higher Secondary School Nagrota Gujroo, and construction of additional classrooms at Government Higher Secondary School Pallan.
She also released SCERT educational publications aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes across the Union Territory.
