In a comprehensive review of Jammu’s healthcare infrastructure, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo conducted a day-long inspection of major government medical institutions in the city. Accompanied by Principals of Medical Colleges, Medical Superintendents, engineers, and senior officials, the visit focused on patient care services and progress on critical infrastructure projects.
The Chief Secretary began at Government Medical College (GMC), Bakshi Nagar, where he inspected the newly constructed 100-bedded Critical Care Block and reviewed the progress of the upcoming Department of Interventional Pulmonology and High-End Laboratory (DIPHL).
He later visited the Bone & Joint Hospital and the Shri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital at Shalamar. At SMGS, Dulloo reviewed the 243-bedded Gynaecological Block under construction at a cost of ₹31.59 crore. The facility aims to enhance maternal and neonatal care and reduce Infant and Maternal Mortality Rates.
At the State Cancer Institute (SCI), under development at a cost of ₹104 crore, the Chief Secretary inspected facilities including OPD/IPD units, diagnostic labs, chemotherapy and radiotherapy units, PET Scan services, and ongoing work on three advanced operation theatres. He also reviewed the status of key equipment like the Linear Accelerator (LINAC), facilitated by JKMSCL.
Dulloo also visited Government Dental College, Amphalla, directing the executing agency to expedite the handover of a newly constructed block to begin operations.
Emphasizing timely completion and quality standards, the Chief Secretary stressed the optimal use of upgraded facilities to provide high-quality healthcare to the people of Jammu and nearby regions.
