Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo addressed the newly admitted batch of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu today, urging students to embrace their journey with purpose, passion, and a commitment to public good.
Marking the start of the academic year at one of India’s youngest IIMs, Dulloo congratulated the students for reaching this milestone, describing IIM Jammu as a transformative space. “You are not just students; you are ambassadors of this institution,” he said, highlighting the shared responsibility between individuals and their alma mater.
Quoting Malcolm X, “Education is the passport to the future,” Dulloo emphasized that an MBA is more than a degree—it shapes leadership, ethical thinking, and collaboration. Referencing Martin Luther King Jr., he added, “Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.”
He spoke on India’s rapid economic and developmental changes, noting challenges like climate change and social equity, and stressed the need for bold, ethical leaders rather than managers who maintain the status quo.
Highlighting Jammu & Kashmir’s growth as a hub of innovation and governance reforms, Dulloo encouraged students to be active catalysts of change in the region. Drawing on his public life experience, he shared five principles for success: stay curious, be resilient, act ethically, respect diversity, and lead with compassion.
“Don’t just aim for a good job, aim for a good life,” Dulloo urged, encouraging students to build a legacy of purpose and service during their time at IIM Jammu.
