
Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo today chaired a high-level meeting to review the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and assess the Health & Medical Education Department’s measures to achieve a Tuberculosis-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by senior health officials, including Secretary H&ME Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, NHM Mission Director Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, principals of government medical colleges, and district health directors. Deputy Commissioners joined via video conferencing.
Dulloo stressed early identification and comprehensive management of TB patients, urging health professionals to personally adopt cases, monitor progress, and provide individualized support. He called for strengthened contact tracing and a robust network of ASHA workers to ensure home-based care and treatment adherence.
The Chief Secretary reviewed diagnostic facilities, medicine availability, and coordination between district health teams. He also directed integration of patient records with the Sehat App and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission portal for efficient monitoring.
Officials reported that J&K has achieved 100% TB case notification, screened 92% of the vulnerable population, and provided support to over 6,900 patients. A total of 7,891 patients are currently under treatment, with 6,618 linked to Nikshay Mitras for nutritional and emotional assistance.
Reiterating the UT’s commitment to eradicating TB, Dulloo emphasized coordinated inter-departmental efforts, community participation, and technological integration to make Jammu and Kashmir a model TB-free region.
