
Under the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect Programme (VBYCP), Dean Student Welfare (DSW), Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir), organized an educational visit for research scholars and students to the Chinar Book Festival-2025 at SKICC here Thursday.
The event, organized by the National Book Trust India, Under the Ministry of Education in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) and Srinagar district administration, provided a platform for book lovers, aspiring writers, and research enthusiasts from CUKashmir to immerse themselves in literary discussions, book review activities, and open interactions with authors.
The visit offered students an opportunity to explore a diverse collection of literary works, engage in intellectual exchanges, and gain insights into the world of publishing and large-scale literary event management. The participants interacted with Ms. Sadaf Gul, Event Officer, National Book Trust India, who shared her expertise on the planning and execution of the festival. Students exchanged ideas with her and learned about the organizational aspects behind successful literary events. She elaborated about the objectives of the Chinar Book Festival and emphasized its significance in fostering a culture of reading and intellectual discourse among youth. She hailed the efforts of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A Ravinder Nath, Dean Students Welfare and administration, for actively encouraging student participation in such events.
Dr. Adil Nazki, Nodal Officer, VBYCP, underscored the importance of books in personal and academic growth. He expressed concern over the declining reading habits among youth and urged students to rekindle their relationship with books.
The programme also featured an Open Talk Session and Book Review conducted by Dr. Samreen Geelani and Dr. Shahnaz Parveen, Youth Officers, DSW, where students and research scholars shared their perspectives on various literary works and engaged in meaningful discussions with the festival organizers.
