Srinagar, Feb 2: Students of Abhinandan Home, Solina Srinagar, run by the Department of Social Welfare, Kashmir, have delivered an inspiring performance in the Class 11 Annual Examination 2025, reaffirming that physical or intellectual challenges are no obstacle to academic success when adequate support and encouragement are provided.

All 17 students who appeared in the examination—classified as Children With Special Needs (CWNS)—successfully passed, with 14 securing distinctions, resulting in a remarkable 100 per cent pass rate. The achievement reflects the consistent efforts, resilience and determination of the students, along with the dedicated mentorship of the teaching staff.
Principal Mudasir Ahmad lauded the collective effort behind the success. “These results are the outcome of tireless hard work by our students and teachers. Despite various challenges, our children displayed exceptional determination, discipline and self-belief. We are immensely proud of every student,” he said.
The distinction holders include Muntaha Muneer (449 marks), Sahil Mehraj (435), Sadiya Parveez (430), Subee Ashraf (416), Nayilah Jaan (415), Mehak Jaan (410), Sheikh Adnan Mehraj (409), Mohammad Sameer (394), Abdul Wajid Sheikh (391), Salim Khan (386), Ahsanullah (384), Suhaib Amin (380), Simran Shafi (375), Ateeb Bashir (374), Usman Bashir (366), Ulfat Jaan (351) and Mehvish Khazir (338).
While celebrating their success, students collectively highlighted the need for improved educational infrastructure for specially-abled learners. Muntaha Muneer, the topper, said that continuing education remains challenging due to accessibility issues. “Travelling long distances after school is difficult for students like us. If special schools are established at the tehsil level and colleges at the district level, more CWNS students will be able to pursue higher education,” she said.
Sahil Mehraj echoed similar concerns, pointing out that limited accessibility and unfriendly transport systems force many students to drop out after school. Another distinction holder emphasized the need for inclusive planning, stating, “We don’t seek sympathy, but equal opportunities. Well-equipped institutions closer to home will help us become confident and independent citizens.”
Parents and staff members appreciated the support extended by the Department of Social Welfare but urged authorities to further strengthen infrastructure, ensure availability of trained staff, and establish more such institutions to reduce dropout rates and empower specially-abled students across Kashmir.
