In a soul-stirring conversation on Authors' Corner with Dr. Lalit Kishore Mandora, acclaimed poet Dr. Surendra Singhal took the audience on a journey where poetry became a voice for truth, justice, and emotion.
In two engaging sessions on Kalhan's Rajatarangini, scholars and writers continued to bring the poetic and historical brilliance of this Kashmiri classic to the forefront.
The world of radio took centre stage in a lively session featuring RJ Nasir, RJ Umar, RJ Rafiq, and RJ Rafia. Titled "Mic Check", the discussion explored how the magic of radio goes beyond information, capturing emotions and memory. The RJs shared how the nostalgic medium of radio continues to hold space for storytelling, community engagement and connection in the new digital age.
The Children's Corner continued to be a festival favourite on Day 4. Grace Paljor mesmerised children with a whimsical storytelling session featuring a magical bird, complete with props and bird whistles that brought the tale to life.
In Bhaskar Indrakanti's interactive workshop, The Art of Asking Questions, young minds were invited to think, ask, and engage deeply. This lively and immersive session ended in a spirited team quiz where book prizes added to the excitement.
Meanwhile, the Poetry Workshop led by Farman Saifi and Muskan turned children into poets. From selecting words to crafting verses and performing them aloud, the session celebrated the fearless creativity of young voices.
The evening came alive with rhythmic applause and heartfelt performances by Team Wasim Khan, the stirring tunes of the Bismil Music Band, the rich cultural expressions of the Yamberzal Cultural Group, and the evocative storytelling of the Baba Reshi Folk Theatre Group. Adding grace and gravitas to the night were senior artists Muneer Mir and Mohd Abdullah Shakhsaaz, whose presence infused the sunset with a deep sense of tradition and artistic legacy.
As the festival moves forward, Day 5 promises more powerful voices, musical moments, and literary dialogue at SKICC, Srinagar. We warmly welcome the citizens of Jammu & Kashmir to join us in celebrating books, history, and storytelling at the Chinar Book Festival, which continues till 10th August, 2025, at SKICC.
