
Srinagar, June 8: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, today conducted an extensive visit to major Imambaras across the city, including Zadibal, Hasanabad Rainawari, and Baghwanpora Lalbazar, to review arrangements for the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram 1448 Hijri.
He was accompanied by senior officers from the Srinagar administration, including representatives from the SMC, R&B, KPDCL, Water Works, Health, and other line departments.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner issued on-the-spot directions to ensure uninterrupted essential services, including electricity and drinking water supply. He instructed that water tankers be kept on standby at locations requiring additional supply during the observances.
The DC directed the SMC and allied departments to ensure functional streetlights and high-mast lighting around Imambaras before the start of Muharram, along with proper sanitation of lanes, drains, shrine premises, and procession routes. He also called for deployment of dog-catching squads at key locations.
The Health Department was asked to ensure availability of first aid facilities, medical teams, and ambulances, including arrangements for their deployment along procession routes to provide immediate medical assistance when required.
At Hasanabad Rainawari and Baghwanpora Lalbazar, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with local representatives, listened to grievances, and issued directions for prompt redressal of issues. He stressed timely completion of all pending arrangements in coordination with concerned departments.
At Zadibal Imambara, he held detailed discussions with community members and emphasized close coordination between the administration and local committees for smooth conduct of Muharram observances.
The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that the district administration would continue to closely monitor preparations and ensure all necessary arrangements are completed within the stipulated timeframe, while also planning phased improvements to local infrastructure requirements
