
Srinagar May 5: Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo today convened a meeting of concerned Engineers of JAKEDA and KPDCL here at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex to review the progress and latest status of solarization of Government buildings in the District.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed appraisal of ongoing works related to solarization of Government buildings aimed at reducing dependence on conventional power sources, promoting clean energy generation and lowering electricity expenditure of Government establishments.
The meeting was informed that 917 government buildings have been identified for installation of rooftop solar systems, out of which 602 buildings have been covered so far, while work on the remaining buildings is underway.
The DC was further given a detailed report regarding installation of smart meters in government buildings.
While reviewing the pace of progress, DC stressed the need to accelerate the pace of work to expedite the solarization process in Srinagar District. He directed the concerned agencies to ensure timely completion of all pending works within the stipulated time frame.
During the meeting, the District Statistics and Evaluation Officer apprised the DC of the status of physical verification of solarized Government buildings conducted so far.
The Meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Alfred Thomas, IAS Probationer, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Shah Ismail Bangroo, Engineers of KPDCL & JAKEDA and other concerned Officers.
