
Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, today inaugurated the Inter-School District-Level Sports Competition at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Ramban. The event was organized under the aegis of the Director General, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), J&K as part of the department’s annual calendar of activities.
The competition includes Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 boys and girls in the discipline of Boxing, and was conducted by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Ramban, under the supervision of DYSSO Jagdesh Raj Sharma.
Over 55 students representing all six zones of the district participated in the inaugural ceremony. They were joined by ZEPOs, PETs, Rehbar-e-Khel, staff members, field officials and several dignitaries, creating an atmosphere of excitement, discipline and sportsmanship.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner appreciated the young players for their participation in competitive sports and for showcasing their talent at the UT and national levels. He encouraged them to aim for excellence at national and international platforms and assured full support from the District Administration to nurture and promote sporting talent.
On the occasion, participants also took the Nasha Mukt Bharat (Drug-Free India) pledge, reinforcing the message of a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
Speaking at the event, DYSSO emphasized the role of sports in building character and promoting physical and mental well-being. He urged the youth to stay away from drugs and embrace sports as a path to personal growth, discipline and overall personality development.
