The visit aimed to assess on-ground facilities and infrastructure being developed for devotees undertaking the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine. The officials inspected the Yatri Facilitation Centre and reviewed its readiness to manage key services including e-KYC verification, RFID card distribution, and registration processes to streamline pilgrim movement.
The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by senior officers from the civil administration, police, SMC, health, traffic, and other line departments, reflecting a coordinated multi-agency approach for the Yatra arrangements.
During the inspection, officials took stock of essential facilities such as accommodation, sanitation, drinking water supply, power availability, healthcare services, security arrangements, and traffic management systems. Special emphasis was laid on ensuring seamless coordination among departments for efficient service delivery.
The officers also reviewed preparations for langar facilities (community kitchens), stressing the need to provide hygienic and nutritious meals to pilgrims throughout their stay at the transit camp.
Authorities were informed that adequate sanitation infrastructure has been put in place, including sufficient bathrooms, urinals, and mobile toilets for pilgrims. Additionally, dedicated water supply systems have been established, supported by standby storage tanks with a total capacity of 80,000 litres to meet demand during peak movement.
The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete remaining works in a time-bound manner and ensure high standards of cleanliness, uninterrupted utilities, and overall preparedness ahead of the pilgrimage.
The officials reiterated that coordinated efforts and timely completion of arrangements are key to ensuring a safe, smooth, and hassle-free experience for all Yatris during SANJY-2026.
