On the eve of ‘World Diabetes Day 2024,’ the Department of Endocrinology at Superspeciality Hospital, Govt Medical College, Srinagar, organized an event, ‘Run for Diabetes,’ today here at Nishat along Foreshore Road.
The 5 Km Run was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat aimed at promoting the importance of lifestyle modifications as a key preventive measure against diabetes, highlighting how physical activity and a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk.
The event was a part of a broader effort to break barriers and bridge gaps in diabetes awareness, empowering the community with the knowledge to make informed health choices.
Administrator GMC Srinagar, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, Dean of Medical faculty SKIMS Prof Shariq Masoodi, HOD Endocrinology GMC Srinagar Dr M Hayat Bhat were also present at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner underscored the significance of awareness about importance of a healthy lifestyle through such events.
The DC also lauded the organizers for holding such an event regarding the importance of public health. He said collective effort underscores our commitment to a healthier, diabetes-free future.
The event also saw the participation of endocrinologists Dr Shahnawaz Mir, Dr Hilal Mohiudin, Dr Khursheed, Dr Saleem Baba, Dr Abid Bhat, Cardiologist Dr Irfan Bhat, the Kashmir Runners Club, members from Pharma Industry and general public.
