
A meeting of District Level Coordination-cum-Implementation Committee (DLCIC) on development, restoration and preservation of heritage assets in the district was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo here on Tuesday at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex.
The meeting discussed threadbare the action plan prepared for carrying out the restoration, revival, preservation and maintenance of Architecture and Heritage of Religious Places/ Heritage Sites in Srinagar in the financial year 2025-26.
Among other, Additional District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Rifat Aftab Qureshi; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed; Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; Superintending Engineer R&B, Shabir Ahmad; Executive Engineer of R&B, Dy CEO, Officers from Archives, Culture and other departments attended the meeting.
At the outset, DC was given a detailed overview about the DPRs regarding the all the identified religious places/ heritage sites under “Scheme for Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Architecture and Heritage in Jammu and Kashmir”.
On the occasion, DC reviewed the efforts aimed at the restoration, revival, preservation and maintenance of various architectural and heritage sites in Srinagar district.
He highlighted the significant cultural value of Srinagar’s architectural heritage, underscoring the critical need to preserve these historical assets as symbols of the district’s identity and legacy.
DC emphasized that the projects to be undertaken for development are vital for preserving the district’s heritage value, promoting tourism, and enhancing livelihood opportunities. He instructed officials to expedite the submission of remaining Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of the pending projects for approval of the government.
He also instructed the concerned officials to expedite the work on the projects, approval for which has already been received during the last financial year
