New Delhi, July 10: With only a few days remaining before the deadline, the Ministry of Defence has urged citizens, particularly students and young artists, to participate in the national-level painting competition on the theme "India 1947 vs India 2047", being organised in collaboration with MyGov as part of the Independence Day 2026 celebrations.
The competition aims to inspire participants to creatively depict India's remarkable journey from Independence in 1947 to its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047, marking 100 years of freedom.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the initiative seeks to encourage artistic expression while promoting awareness about India's achievements, democratic values, nation-building efforts and aspirations for the future.
As an added incentive, the top three winners of the competition will receive a cash prize of ₹15,000 each. In addition, the top 200 participants will be given a unique opportunity to witness the Independence Day 2026 celebrations at the historic Red Fort in New Delhi on August 15, where the Prime Minister will address the nation.
The competition is open to eligible participants across the country, offering artists of all age groups an opportunity to showcase their creativity on a national platform.
The Ministry has encouraged aspiring participants to submit their entries before the closing date, noting that only a limited time remains for registration and submission.
Officials said the competition forms part of the nationwide celebrations leading up to Independence Day and reflects the government's vision of involving citizens, especially youth, in commemorating India's achievements while imagining the country's future over the next two decades.
Interested participants can register and submit their entries through the official MyGov platform before the deadline.
