Demand for increase in flights from Srinagar to Delhi rises amid tourism boom

September 13, 2023 | BK News Service

There is a growing demand for an increase in the number of flights from Srinagar to Delhi airport amid the tourism boom.
The current flight schedule only allows for a few flights per day, which is not enough to meet the needs of the people who travel between the two cities.
Few days back GM Shaheen, President J&K Janta Dal United (JDU), called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, and put forth various demands to the Lt Governor which include increase in night flights from Srinagar Airport, check on rates charged by hoteliers from tourists and robust arrangements of power supply in winters.
Locals said that there are a number of reasons for the increased demand for flights and “ one reason is the growing tourism industry in Kashmir.”
“Kashmir is a popular tourist destination, and the number of tourists visiting the region has been increasing in recent years. Another reason is the increasing number of business travelers who need to travel between Srinagar and Delhi,” a local resident Irfan Ahmad said.
The limited flight schedule is causing problems for both tourists and business travelers. Tourists have to wait for days to get a flight, and business travelers may have to reschedule their flights if they cannot get a seat.
The government has been urged to increase the number of flights from Srinagar to Delhi airport. The government has said that it is considering the request
Locals said that it would make it easier for tourists and business travelers to travel between the two cities, boost the tourism industry in Kashmir, create jobs in the aviation sector and improve connectivity between the two cities.
