Baramulla, Feb 27: In a significant outreach initiative for the elderly population, a dementia screening and medical camp was organised at Delina, Baramulla under the National Action Plan for Senior Citizens (NAPSrC). The programme was conducted by the Department of Social Welfare, Tehsil Baramulla in collaboration with the Health Department.

The camp aimed at facilitating early identification of dementia-related symptoms while extending essential healthcare services to senior citizens at their doorstep. Officials said the initiative was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community-level healthcare support for the elderly.
During the camp, a team of doctors and healthcare professionals carried out detailed medical examinations, dementia screening tests, general consultations, and counselling sessions. The medical team also sensitised participants about age-related ailments and preventive healthcare practices.
Over 100 elderly residents attended the camp and availed themselves of the services provided. Free medicines were distributed among the beneficiaries as prescribed by the attending doctors.
Participants appreciated the initiative, stating that such programmes help ensure timely medical intervention and guidance without the need to travel long distances.
Refreshments were also provided to the attendees as a gesture of support and community care.
Officials reiterated that similar outreach programmes will continue in other areas of the district to safeguard the health, dignity, and well-being of senior citizens.
