Director General of Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, addressed all ranks of the Force during a Special Sainik Sammelan at the Headquarters of DG Assam Rifles (DGAR) in Laitkor, Shillong, on Thursday.
In his motivating address, Lt Gen Lakhera emphasized the importance of dedication, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty, while reminding the troops to remain true to the core values and proud legacy of Assam Rifles—the “Friends of the North East People.”
The Director General lauded the selfless contribution of the Force in securing the nation’s frontiers and praised its active participation in nation-building, especially in the sensitive and strategically important North East region.
Highlighting the role of Assam Rifles in counter-insurgency, humanitarian assistance, and fostering civil-military harmony, Lt Gen Lakhera urged personnel at all levels to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and service.
He acknowledged the courage and resilience displayed by the men and women of the Force in challenging conditions and reiterated the leadership’s commitment to troop welfare and operational excellence.
The Special Sainik Sammelan concluded with an interactive session where the DG personally engaged with jawans and officers, boosting morale and reinforcing camaraderie.
The address comes at a time when Assam Rifles continues to play a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability across the North Eastern states and along India’s border with Myanmar.
